Child Vampire Alan Alan loves riding the subway all night  Alan's story isn't completely clear. It comes in images. He was quite small when he was made. He was either lost or abandoned, or maybe he ran away. Once upon a time there seems to have been an older lady who looked after him. It might have been a grandmother, maybe a neighbor or a social worker. He seems to have forgotten his mother or maybe he just isn't ready to think about her yet. He has known a lot of emotional pain and learned to block it out.   But his story isn't all sad. He actually loves living in shadowy places between this world and the spirit realms. Alan can manifest the energy to appear quite human and his role as a lost  boy serves him well. When he was still in our realm, towards the end of his time as a mortal, he was very good at getting money to ride the subway, which he loved to do going nowhere in particular. He would sometimes hang out at McDonald's. Most of the other children were afraid of him but there were a few like himself. And there was always some stranger willing to buy him a Happy Meal. He would frighten them with how fast he devoured it.  Some of these strangers were kindhearted and would try to help Alan, but he didn't want to live in the system. He would finish his meal quickly and disappear before they had a chance to contact the authorities. Sometimes the people he met had bad intentions and later, after he was in what he thought of as "the in between" he enjoyed picking these types out and leading them to a cruel fate. It wasn't so much from a sense of right and wrong, but he just didn't like that they thought they were more powerful than he was. Underestimating Alan could be a fatal mistake.  Alan met Jared who was already a night creature and they became very close, like brothers.
